THE NINE PILLARS
The Foundation of the Ascending Dragons Philosophy
The Nine Pillars are guideposts for awakening. They are the qualities of being that support a life of wisdom, strength, compassion, and Divine Union.
Rooted in the understanding that we are body, mind, and soul, these pillars provide a practical framework for spiritual development and the embodiment of our highest potential.
They are not rules to follow, but sacred principles to cultivate—guiding us from fragmentation toward wholeness, from unconsciousness toward awareness, and from seeking toward realization.
The Nine Pillars
- Sacred Breath
- Sacred Sound
- Sacred Calm
- Sacred Devotion
- Sacred Will
- Sacred Awareness
- Sacred Heart-Mind
- Sacred Surrender
- Sacred Compassion
Together these Nine Pillars cultivate the integral development of body, mind, and soul. They serve as our compass, our practice, and our path toward Divine Union.
THE SACRED BODY
Breath. Sound. Calm.
The first three pillars begin with the body because the body is the vessel through which spiritual life is practiced, stabilized, and embodied.
Breath, sound, and calm are not merely techniques—they are sacred foundations for regulating the nervous system, refining awareness, and preparing the whole being for awakening.
1. Sacred Breath
Breath is the steering wheel of the nervous system and the remote control for your state of being. Through conscious breathing we regulate energy, calm the mind, and return to the present moment.
2. Sacred Sound
The sounds we hear, the words we speak, and the environments we inhabit shape consciousness. Sacred Sound is the intentional practice of surrounding ourselves with what uplifts, heals, and awakens.
3. Sacred Calm
Calmness is the natural state from which wisdom emerges. A calm body, calm mind, and calm nervous system provide the foundation for clarity, insight, and lasting transformation.
These three pillars strengthen one another and prepare the body as a sacred instrument for awakening.
THE SACRED MIND
Devotion. Will. Awareness.
The mind has the power either to imprison us or to liberate us. These three pillars refine intention, strengthen discipline, and awaken conscious living.
4. Sacred Devotion
Devotion opens the heart beyond the ego. It transforms practice into offering and directs our lives toward something greater than ourselves.
5. Sacred Will
Will is the sacred power to choose intentionally. Through discipline, courage, and responsibility, we bring our highest values into daily life.
6. Sacred Awareness
Awareness is the foundation of spiritual growth. By observing ourselves honestly and compassionately, we become free from unconscious habits and conditioned reactions.
Together these three pillars purify the mind and align it with wisdom, purpose, and higher truth.
THE SACRED SOUL
Heart-Mind. Surrender. Compassion.
The final three pillars awaken the deepest dimensions of the soul. They dissolve separation, cultivate unconditional love, and reveal our unity with all life.
7. Sacred Heart-Mind
When heart and mind work together, wisdom becomes compassionate and compassion becomes wise. This integration allows us to perceive reality with greater clarity and love.
8. Sacred Surrender
Surrender is the willingness to trust the Divine more deeply than the ego. It is the practice of releasing fear, attachment, and resistance while opening ourselves to grace.
9. Sacred Compassion
Compassion is the natural expression of awakening. As we recognize ourselves in others, kindness becomes spontaneous and service becomes joyful.
These three pillars awaken the soul to its deepest nature and complete the integrated path of body, mind, and soul.
OUR CORE BELIEFS
Timeless Truths That Shape Our Understanding of Reality, the Divine, and the Purpose of Human Life
Our beliefs are the foundation of our spiritual community. They provide a shared language and a consistent framework for our collective exploration of Truth. While we honor the individual journey, these core tenets serve as our North Star, guiding us toward the realization of the Divine within and without.
1. The Primacy of Direct Experience
We believe that spiritual Truth must be experienced directly to be transformative. While scripture, teachings, and guidance are essential maps, the territory itself can only be known through personal practice, contemplation, and the awakening of inner sight. Faith is not a blind adherence to dogma, but a trust in the reliability of the practices and the guidance that lead to one's own revelation.
2. The Unity of All Creation
We believe that all of existence emerges from a singular, Divine source. Separation is an illusion born of the ego-mind. Underpinning the vast diversity of life is a radical interconnectedness. To harm another is to harm oneself; to love another is to love the Divine. Our task is to dismantle the barriers of perceived separation and live as an expression of this fundamental Oneness.
3. The Body as a Sacred Temple
Spirituality is not an escape from the physical world, but a deep dive into it. We believe the body is the laboratory of the soul—the necessary vessel through which awakening is grounded, stabilized, and expressed. We honor the body through breath, movement, and purity, recognizing it as a living instrument of the Divine.
4. The Reality of Karma and Responsibility
The universe is governed by the law of cause and effect. Our thoughts, words, and actions generate energy that eventually returns to us. This is not punishment, but an invitation into absolute responsibility. We recognize that we are the architects of our own experience and the co-creators of our collective reality.
5. The Necessity of the Dark Night
Transformation involves death before rebirth. We believe that periods of doubt, fragmentation, and intense challenge are not signs of failure, but essential thresholds of growth. The 'Dark Night' is the process by which the ego is refined to reveal the enduring light of the soul.
6. The Divine Marriage within Each Soul
Each human being carries both the masculine and feminine principles of consciousness. Awakening requires the reconciliation and union of these forces—the active and the receptive, the will and the heart, the form and the void. Divine Union is first an internal marriage before it can be expressed externally.
7. The Power of Sacred Sound and Silence
We believe that vibration is the fundamental language of the universe. Through mantra, music, and prayer, we align our resonance with the Divine. Similarly, we believe that silence is the womb of all sound—the field of pure potential where the voice of the soul can finally be heard.
8. The Integration of Wisdom and Compassion
Wisdom without compassion is cold and sterile; compassion without wisdom is blind and ineffective. We believe that true maturity is the seamless integration of these two wings, allowing us to fly straight toward Truth and serve the world with clarity and heart.
9. The Inherent Divinity of All Beings
Every person, regardless of their past or present state, is an eternal spark of the Divine. Our work is not to become something we are not, but to strip away the false identities that hide who we have always been. We honor the Buddha-nature, the Christ-consciousness, and the Divine Spark in every soul we encounter.
10. The Continuous Journey of Initiation
Spiritual life is not a static destination, but a series of progressive awakenings. Each stage of the path involves an initiation—a letting go of an old way of being to embody a wider perspective. We embrace the path as an eternal unfolding, always moving from glory into glory.
11. The Stewardship of the Earth
We believe the physical world is a living expression of Divine intelligence. We are not owners of the Earth, but humble stewards. Our spiritual practice must manifest as a reverence for all living systems and a commitment to protecting the beauty and integrity of our planetary home.
12. The Importance of Lineage and Community
While the journey is inward, we do not walk alone. We honor the wisdom of those who have gone before us and the strength of those who walk beside us. A spiritual community (Sangha/Fellowship) provides the container of safety and accountability necessary for radical transformation.
13. The Alchemy of Surrender
We believe that true power is found not in control, but in surrender to the Divine Will. Surrender is not a passive defeat, but a dynamic alignment with the flow of Life. By yielding our small will to the Great Will, we become channels for miracles and grace.
14. The Clarity of Discrimination (Viveka)
The path requires the constant refinement of our ability to distinguish between the eternal and the transient, the true and the false. Through cultivation of the focused mind, we learn to cut through the fog of delusion and dwell in the light of Truth.
15. The Practice of Radical Presence
We believe that the present moment is the only place where the Divine can be met. By releasing the regrets of the past and the anxieties of the future, we open ourselves to the infinite depth of Now. Presence is the highest form of prayer.
16. The Sacred Nature of Work and Service
Spiritual practice is not separate from daily life. We believe that every action, when performed with awareness and love, is a sacred offering. Service is the natural fragrance of an awakened heart—the way we give back to the source of all being.
17. The Evolution of Consciousness
We believe that humanity is in a critical stage of collective evolution. We are being called to move beyond the paradigm of fear and separation toward a global awakening of Unity. Our individual growth is part of a larger, planetary shift toward Divine Union.
18. The Infinite Grace of the Source
Ultimately, we believe that we are held in a field of unconditional Love. No matter how many times we fall, the path remains open. Grace is the constant background of our lives, always pulling us home, always offering a new beginning. We trust in the goodness of the Source.
19. Death, Afterlife & Consciousness
We believe consciousness continues beyond physical death and that this life is one chapter in the soul's endless journey toward God. We respect the insights found within near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, the mystical traditions of Yoga, Christianity, Buddhism, and other contemplative paths, believing they offer meaningful glimpses into the greater reality that awaits us.
20. The Future of Humanity
We believe humanity is being called toward a New Earth through the awakening of love, wisdom, compassion, and Divine consciousness within each individual. We believe communities like Ascending Dragons Fellowship exist to help cultivate awakened hearts, knowing that every transformed life contributes to the healing and spiritual evolution of humanity.
